Terms of Service

Last updated: January 5, 2025

1. Service

Crouter provides an API proxy service that gives you access to Claude AI models (Haiku, Sonnet, and Opus) through a standard Anthropic-compatible API. You can use your API key in any tool or application that supports the Anthropic API format, including but not limited to Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf, Openclaw, Hermes Agent, and your own applications. We do not restrict where or how you use your API key.

2. Accounts

You must create an account to use Crouter. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials and API key secure. Do not share your API key with others. One active API key per account at a time.

3. Billing

Crouter uses a prepaid balance system. You add funds to your account and each API request deducts the exact cost based on the model used and tokens consumed. There are no subscriptions or monthly fees. Your balance never expires. Per-token rates are listed on our pricing page and may change with notice.

4. Refunds

We offer refunds for unused credit. If you request a refund, we will return your remaining balance minus the payment processor fee. Stripe's processing fee is non-refundable as it is charged by a third party and is outside our control. To request a refund, contact us at contact@crouter.dev.

5. Rate Limits

Default rate limits are 50 requests per minute, 1,000 requests per hour, and 10,000 requests per day per API key. If you need higher limits, contact us at contact@crouter.dev and we will accommodate your needs.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use Crouter for any illegal or harmful purposes. You must comply with Anthropic's usage policies when using Claude models through our service. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

7. Service Availability

Crouter proxies requests to Anthropic's API. Our uptime depends on Anthropic's infrastructure availability. We do not guarantee any specific uptime percentage. When your balance reaches zero, the API will return a 402 status code until you add more funds.

8. Limitation of Liability

Crouter is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Our total liability is limited to your remaining account balance.

9. Changes

We may update these terms at any time. Continued use of Crouter after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. We will notify you of significant changes via email.
